Open Space
Jefferson County’s stunning open space program is the crown jewel of the Denver-metro area. Jeffco just wouldn’t be Jeffco without open space, and it’s why so many of us choose to live here - and gives us (and our families) a whole lot to do on weekends. Ask anybody: Andy have a long history as a champion for open space.
In his time in public service, Andy has been a fierce advocate for public lands in general and Jefferson County Open Space in particular. Why? That’s easy: He regularly bikes, hikes, and recreates on our public lands, and he’ll do everything he can to protect them so future generations can enjoy them like he has.
As your Jefferson County Commissioner, Andy will fight to:
- Expand multi-use trails that allow for non-motorized hiking, equestrian, and mountain biking – and for a comprehensive regional trail system to connect public lands, parks, and other trail systems.
- Increase funding for outdoor education programs, and partner with Jeffco Public Schools and area community colleges to provide resources for our students to learn about and enjoy our public lands.
- Increase financial and strategic support for wildfire mitigation.
- Expand our conservation easement program, and he'll work one-on-one with our family farms, ranchers, and homeowners to protect land from overdevelopment.
